Champion of the Hot Hatches: Fiesta ST

Our favorite sports car reviewers hail from "across the pond." Top Gear's Richard Hammond tests out three popular hot hatches. Two, the Renault Clio 200 and Peugeot 208 GTi are not available this side of the Atlantic, but the third you'll easily recognize. Skip ahead to 4:30 for the Ford Fiesta ST.

Hot hatches are sporty little affordable hatchbacks that are fun to drive, and still practical for daily use.  They've been trendy for decades, but largely outside of North America.

Now, as fuel-conscientious consumers seek ways to spice up their drives, Hot Hatches are making a comeback in the US and Canada.

If you've watched the video, you'll realize it doesn't matter that the first two hatches aren't in Canada. The Fiesta ST is the clear champion. Well, maybe it could use a little more horsepower, but the newer Fiesta ST gets a 15hp overboost to kick its power up a notch, if only for a few seconds at a go.
